Nova
Senior Product Engineer
New York, NY · $200,000-$400,000 · Full-time
About the company
Nova is building an AI agent platform for SAP teams. SAP runs finance, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, HR, and customer service for most of the Fortune 500 and the Global 2000. It is old, expensive, and slow to maintain, with its own programming language and object model, so tools such as Claude Code and Codex do not work on it. Enterprises spend roughly $200 billion a year on SAP services. Nova builds the platform that brings frontier models to the people who work in SAP, so those teams can modernize legacy code, redesign processes, and resolve production issues. Customers use it to multiply the productivity of their SAP teams.
Nova is about 30 people. It closed a Series A earlier this year and has raised about $40 million, including from SAP.io, Accel, Conviction, and Chemistry. The founding team pairs AI engineering with deep SAP experience. The CEO is a repeat founder whose prior company reached a few million users and stayed profitable. A co-founder is a former researcher at Google DeepMind and Facebook Research who previously started a company that raised about $10 million. The chief scientist co-invented SAP HANA and was global CTO for Accenture's SAP business, the largest SAP consulting practice. The Chief Customer Officer was CIO at Cargill, one of the most complex SAP environments in the world. Series A, about 11 to 50 people, founded in 2024, in New York.
About the role
Nova is hiring a senior product engineer to own products end to end on top of the platform. The CEO holds a high bar: building a product is no longer the scarce part, so the differentiator is someone who has gone zero to one with real success. The strongest shape is a founder, or someone who has built and shipped things that worked. One person on the team built and sold three companies before joining. You need strong product sense, you can figure out the interface, and you can own products as Nova builds more on top of the platform. Early success matters more on this seat than the clock-speed bar on the infrastructure role.
The first 30 days are exploration and contribution. By 60 days you own meaningful pieces. By six months you bring product ideas directly. There is no room for long product-planning meetings. Because Nova is a platform, building on top of it is fast, so the value is in the right ideas and in thinking problems through. Execution matters, and the ideas matter more. Development is extremely AI-native. The same path applies: bring the ideas, and hunt down the problems yourself.
You own products on top of the platform: backend services, integrations with the enterprise stack, and the client applications customers use every day. You own agent reliability: evaluation frameworks and feedback loops that improve agent performance on real customer workloads, instrumenting failures and turning customer scenarios into reproducible tests. Within months you generate product ideas and drive them, rather than only executing assigned work.
Bar: about 3 to 8 years. You ship production systems end to end in Python, JavaScript and React, or Go. You have a real zero-to-one track record, and a founder background is ideal. You have product sense and can own the interface as well as the backend. You are comfortable with AWS and infrastructure as code, and you have informed opinions on agent design and on tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Cline. You take an ill-defined problem and ship without being told how. Products that succeeded or companies you sold, choosing the work after you were already successful, clear product taste with the engineering to own it, and specific opinions on agents are green flags. A generic product with no evidence it worked, about 7 to 10 years in big tech, about 10 years around startups with nothing that worked, or needing a defined spec before you move is a miss.
In office five days a week in New York. Visa sponsorship is available. Equity is about 0.1% to 0.5%. Health, dental, and vision through Rippling. Posted work intensity is 9-9-5. The process is an intro with the CEO, two technical conversations with founding engineers, a paid on-site work trial of 1 to 3 days, then an offer.
