Songscription is a music-learning AI lab that raised a $5M seed led by Reach Capital (with Emerge Capital, 10x Founders, Dent Capital, and angel Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal of Guns N' Roses). It came out of Stanford's StartX, founded by Andrew Carlins (CEO, Stanford MBA), Alex Alvarado-Barahona (CTO), Katie Baker, and Tim Beyer, whose music-AI research cracked the audio-to-MIDI problem the company is built on. The traction is the real headline: 150,000+ users across 150 countries at 60% month-over-month growth, all organic with zero marketing spend.

Songscription is the "Shazam for sheet music", upload any audio or YouTube link and get back accurate sheet music, MIDI, MusicXML, Guitar Pro tabs, or an interactive piano roll in minutes, across nine instruments. Its second product, Anything Piano, is an iOS app that lets anyone upload a song and learn it through a piano roll with real-time feedback. Under the hood is proprietary transcription AI solving a problem that stumped music-information-retrieval research for decades.

The team is small, fast, and based in San Francisco.

Songscription is hiring a Founding Mobile App Developer to own its mobile experience end to end. Today the app is iOS-only and there's no redundancy on it, when the CTO steps away, the app stalls, while the website keeps marching because a dedicated engineer owns it. This hire fixes that: full ownership of the mobile codebase (iOS now, Android next), starting with bringing transcription to mobile and then building a new AI-native learning app on top of the proprietary models.

This is deliberately a product-leaning full-stack role. You should be self-sufficient on the backend, it'll come up, but backend isn't where you want to live. Design and product intuition are what they weight hardest, especially for an app that's physically in your hand, where haptics and feel have to be great. Swift specifically matters less than it used to given AI coding tools; taste, speed, and product sense matter more.

You'll work closely with engineering, design, and product as the product changes quickly on user feedback toward PMF.
